Devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Mahalia Jackson Theater was completed renovated in 2008. Mr. Musso was the architect in charge of this 33 million dollar renovation along with NY Associates. The entire building envelope was renewed from the basement to the roof. The main emphasis was on the interior. With new seating, a new stage, rigging, lighting and multiple sound systems this 1960s facility was re-functioned into a state of the arts venue for opera, dance, theater, concerts, and multi-media presentations. The site and its supporting facilities were also upgraded.
